Description:
The
Devonport Leat meanders around the south west of Dartmoor and to
follow its course is a pleasant walk.
Starting near Holming Beam 595 769 you lose it near Peat
Cot 604 714 emmerging near Older Bridge 598 705 it now ends
by flowing into Burrator Reservoir.
Originally designed by Sir Francis Drake to supply the citizens
of Plymouth with clean, fresh water, it is an example of eco-engineering
at its best.
